India: Carrier Pigeon Captured with Bomb Threat

Security forces in the Indian city of Jammu captured a carrier pigeon on Monday. Carrying a letter threatening to “blow up” the city’s train station on the border with Pakistan, the India Times reports.

According to the report, the pigeon crossed the border between the two countries to deliver a message written in Urdu and English. Stating that “the time has come,” “freedom for Kashmir,” and announcing an explosive device planted on the station’s tracks.
This would be the first time a pigeon has been reported captured with this type of message. According to police reports, Pakistan has previously used balloons to launch threats against India. And they have no doubt that this pigeon could have been trained to deliver such a message.

Local police remain on high alert: dog squads and defusal teams have been deployed. Also security has been reinforced around the train station and nearby railways.
