Members of the children’s theater company La Colmenita paid a tribute this Saturday in Hanoi to Cuban National Hero José Martí. At the bust erected in the central Tao Dan park-garden.
In this way, the theater group, founded three decades ago, began its program of activities in Vietnam. A distant land that the author of La Edad de Oro (The Golden Age) made known to Cuban children through the pages of this magazine with his story “A Walk Through the Land of the Annamites.”
There, Martí highlighted the heroism of this people, who “have always been defending themselves” from those who sought to conquer them. Knowing that “the freedom of a small people is more necessary to the world than the power of an ambitious king, and the lies of the priests who serve the king for his money.”
And the beekeepers learned a little more about that enduring courage today when they visited the new Vietnam Military History Museum, inaugurated in November of last year. They were able to enjoy interactive and immersive experiences about the heroic struggle of the People’s Army for independence and national reunification.
The complex, which covers more than 386,000 square meters, displays around 150,000 objects, including four national treasures, including the MiG-21 aircraft number 4324 with 14 stars on its nose, symbolizing its 14 aerial victories against the Americans.
Also on display is the T-54B tank number 843, which crossed the gate of the Independence Palace in the then city of Saigon on April 30th, 1975, sealing the definitive victory over the United States Army and the puppet government of South Vietnam, and paving the way for the country’s reunification.
Furthermore, according to the Facebook page of the Cuban Embassy here, they shared with hundreds of Cubans visiting the facility. Imbued with the joy brought about by the recent celebration of the 80th anniversary of the triumphant August Revolution and National Day.

Next Tuesday, they will take to the stage at the Ho Guom Theater in Hanoi, where they will present the play “Cinderella… According to the Beatles,” a revival of the classic fairy tale accompanied by the immortal songs of the legendary British group, which premiered in 2007.
The second and final performance will be on August 28th at the Vietnam-Cuba Primary School in the Ba Dinh district of Hanoi. Where a painting and photography exhibition on the special relationship and solidarity between the peoples of both countries opened last Wednesday.
