Kong Lingli, a member of the 76th generation of direct descendants of the Chinese philosopher Confucius. Highlighted this Sunday in Quzhou, China, the relevance and cultural significance of Confucian thought in Chinese society.
Speaking to Prensa Latina, he said that this knowledge is a fundamental part of the Asian giant’s tradition and has profoundly influenced state governance and daily life for more than two thousand years.
Its core principles, such as “harmony in diversity” and “reason as the core,” promote peaceful coexistence and rational thinking, Kong added.
These values, he noted, remain widely accepted today and continue to evolve with the times.
In his opinion, the promotion of a harmonious society in China today finds in Confucianism a relevant cultural reference.
Quzhou, known as the “Southern Sacred Land of Confucius,” actively promotes the dissemination of the Confucian values of benevolence, righteousness, wisdom, and fidelity, he noted.
According to Kong, the adaptability and inclusiveness of Confucian thought make it a bridge for cultural exchange between nations and can contribute to mutual understanding in a multicultural world.
He also emphasized that China’s proposal to build a community with a shared future for humanity is in line with the ancient Confucian idea of ”the world as a common heritage.”
The principle of “harmony in diversity,” he explained, illustrates that despite global cultural diversity, the humanist spirit is universal.
Kong Lingli emphasized that Confucianism, after thousands of years of development, preserves core values such as benevolence, wisdom, integrity, and the unity of knowledge and action.
These principles are fundamental to the harmonious development of the individual society, he affirmed.
Confucius (551 BC–479 BC) was an influential Chinese philosopher, politician, and educator whose teachings laid the foundations for ethical and social thought throughout of Asia.
His doctrine, known as Confucianism, focuses on personal morality, rectitude, respect for family, justice, and social harmony.
Throughout his life, he promoted the importance of education. The cultivation of character, and virtue as pillars of good governance and human coexistence.
The Nanzong Confucian Temple, located in this city in Zhejiang province, is one of only three Kong family temples in China.
Quzhou is recognized as the birthplace of Southern Confucianism, and this site in particular holds a history of more than 700 years.
