Trucks provide water supply in Holguin due to intense drought

The Territorial Delegation of Hydraulic Resources in the province of Holguin is ensuring the water supply. In the face of the intense drought affecting more than 167,000 customers of the water supply networks in this territory.

As part of these programs, the pumps on the Nipe-Gibara and Cauto-Güirabo systems are being repaired, benefiting residents of the municipality of Holguin. The executive emphasized that the Nipe-Deleite canal, which contributes to supplying water to Antilla, Banes, and Mayari, is being cleaned.

Also Echavarría argued that the activation of generators in the municipalities of Baguano, Tacajo, and Urbano Noris will reduce the impacts caused by the energy crisis and maintain the vitality of those areas.

In parallel, progress is being made on replacing several kilometers of water lines. Installing water treatment plants, eliminating leaks, and installing water meters to facilitate water savings.

July marked the driest month in Cuba in the last 32 years. So the feasibility of exploiting local sources is being studied, and hand pumps are being installed in community cisterns in urban and rural areas.
