The show “Goldilocks and the Three Bears and the Prodigious Decade,” held this Saturday, brought together a large crowd of Holguin residents at the Bariay Cultural Center. This show featured a double-dealing performance, featuring a rendition of the classic tale for children and a recollection of music from the 1960s and 1970s for parents and grandparents.
This is why we love performing for children up to 120 years old, and it’s something we keep in mind in La Colmenita’s performances. Because we like to offer that gift of nostalgia, with music that is deeply rooted in the local memory, Cremata told CNA.
For Juan Carlos (Tin) Cremata, general and artistic director of La Colmenita, there is no greater satisfaction than bringing and multiplying smiles. He knows that, with each performance, they are doing good for Cuba, for its children, and for Martí.
Tin also stated that this is the goal of each show: to connect with the everyday Cuban personality, playful and cheerful. He confessed that, especially, laughing with children, those extraordinary beings who must be cared for and loved deeply, is the path they follow to fulfill, as Martí said, the usefulness of virtue.
Also he emphasized that it is always an opportunity to return to Holguin. A large and cultured city, where each performance provides the Company with new experiences, friendships, and joys.
The performance featured community groups, such as the Little Artists. Highlighting the role of art instructors in defending culture and providing healthy entertainment for younger generations.
For Valeria, a young attendee, she expressed that seeing these artists dance, sing, and make people laugh is a dream come true, because she also wants to see children happy.
The La Colmenita Children’s Theater Company is on a national tour from August 4th to the 19th. In commemoration of the 99th birthday of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz. More specifically, to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the group’s founding by Juan Carlos Cremata, 2024 National Community Culture Award winner.
