Cuba will raise its flag in the run-up to Asunción 2025

The flags of 41 countries, including Cuba’s, will fly today in the Plaza del Comité Olímpico Paraguayo (Paraguayan Olympic Committee). During the symbolic ceremony officially welcoming the 2nd Junior Pan American Games in Asunción 2025.

As Olympic tradition dictates, the raising of the flags is more than a formality: it represents the initial embrace of a continent united around sport.

Cuba, with its great heritage and a delegation of 231 athletes, is once again present. The national flag will be raised with the dignity of those who carry centuries of history in their veins and fresh dreams in their eyes.

The Paraguayan capital is undergoing a transformation. The bustle of the airports, the avenues draped in flags, the excited volunteers. And the notes of folk music that spring from every corner announce that something great is about to begin.

Tomorrow, in the legendary Defensores del Chaco stadium, the flame of youth will be lit. The same flame that runs, jumps, and dreams of changing the world from a track or a tatami mat.

The Junior Pan American Games, more than a competition, are a mirror that reflects the new powers of the region.

Countries like Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Chile are arriving with large delegations and figures who already know what it means to shine in continental and world tournaments.

Cuba, despite its economic challenges, remains steadfast in its commitment to young talent, sports training, and the spirit of self-improvement.

The city of Asunción has prepared diligently. More than 4,000 athletes will compete from August 9th to 23rd in 28 sports and 42 disciplines. Also thousands of visitors are already walking its streets in search of excitement, culture, and fellowship.

This afternoon’s flag-raising will be the visual beginning of a celebration that promises to leave its mark.

And among all the flags that will dance in the Paraguayan wind. There will be one that will wave most strongly in the hearts of Cubans: the Lone Star Flag, which once again flies with dignity in the name of a country that, even in adversity, has never stopped competing or dreaming.
