CMKO: 89 Years on the Air

On August 1st, 1936, the new frequency named CMKO was added to the radio spectrum. Broadcasting from 21 Desamparados Street, very close to what is now Martí Park.

Its founder, Manuel Angulo Farrán, became a martyr of the Cuban Revolution for his involvement in the revolutionary process. He was vilely assassinated in 1957 by the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship in the crime known as the Bloody Easter.

In his honor, after the triumph of the Revolution on January 1st, 1959. The station adopted his surname, consolidating its position as the main radio station in the Holguin region.
