KTP Factory Projects Support Rail Infrastructure in Holguin

Several projects at the 60th Anniversary of the October Revolution Sugarcane Combined Plant (KTP). Located on the outskirts of Holguin, impact the logistical security of the region’s rail infrastructure.

The programs include the rehabilitation and manufacture of equipment used to transport passengers and cargo to hard-to-reach areas, among other services.

Alián Roberto Cordovés Toirac, the factory’s director, explained to the Cuban News Agency the repair of 11 60-ton trucks to transport basic goods by rail.

A single trip by these vehicles replaces 180 truck trips. Saving approximately 180,000 liters of fuel and enabling a faster and more efficient distribution of resources, the director added.

He also mentioned the repair of railcars for rural communities. As well as the construction of their stops and turnarounds, essential resources used for turning trains in difficult areas.

Cordovés Toirac also highlighted the restoration of a railcar. Which will be returned to the tracks as part of the strengthening of rail transportation.
