Popular Camping in Holguin is experiencing a boom this summer. The company serves more than 5,500 guests daily at its ten campsites, all of which are fully booked. This recreational option is gaining popularity among Cuban families, with a particular focus on young people.
Reservations for July and August are already full, with visitors arriving from different parts of the country. The most popular destinations are Playa Blanca, in Rafael Freyre, and Río Cabonico, in Mayarí. This was confirmed by Yandra Marrero Cruz, the organization’s general director, in statements to the Cuban News Agency.
The offer includes short and long stays in approximately 500 rooms, divided between tents and permanent structures. Day passes are also offered from Monday to Sunday at affordable prices in local currency, with transportation provided by the School Transportation Company.
Recreational centers are classified as first and second level. Among the most promoted are La Silla de Gibara, Antillita, Barrancones, Morales, Caranerito, and Los Bajos. These spaces offer comprehensive services, including lodging, dining, entertainment, shopping, and nature tourism activities.
A new project, the Caletones campground in Gibara, is about to open. While its construction is being completed, it operates on a day-trip basis. The 24 available rooms are used to house workers building the desalination plant that will supply the community.
The company also rents out venues for events and signs contracts with organizations seeking recreational options for their employees. This strategy seeks to consolidate a stable clientele year-round. Among the institutions with agreements are Numa, the Holguin Electric Company, and Garbo.
Additionally, the El Vallado, Holguin-Santiago, and 400 Rosas roadside rest stops offer fast food to travelers and recreational activities on weekends. In coordination with the Department of Culture and the National Institute of Natural Resources (INDER).
With 44 years of experience, Popular Camping in Holguin operates continuously and attracts domestic tourists, especially from Las Tunas, Granma, and Camagüey. As well as foreign visitors interested in its beaches, rivers, and caves.
