Starting this July and until September 30th, 2025, trains originating in Havana will have new departure times. The Cuban Ministry of Transportation announced today.
On its Facebook profile, the agency published a statement from the Rutas Nacionales company. Stating that the adjustment is primarily due to the low availability of trains and the need for extra trains throughout the summer. Which will depart every four days.
The text states that these additional trains will ensure the transportation of students, workers, athletes participating in sporting events. Such as the School Games, and other sectors, and adds that the population will be able to acquire training on them, as is customary during this period.
The publication specifies that the regular train from Havana must wait for the arrival of trains from the eastern provinces to reuse cars. This entails technical maintenance, provisioning, and cleaning work. In addition to the shared use of the locomotive in certain cases. Which has caused delays and extended wait times at terminals.
It details that the changes in departure times are as follows: Train No. 1 (Havana → Santiago de Cuba), which normally departs at 7:15 p.m., will be rescheduled to 10:15 p.m.; Train No. 3 (Havana → Guantanamo), which normally departs at 7:00 p.m., will be rescheduled to 10:00 p.m.
Train No. 5 (Havana → Holguin), which normally departs at 7:05 p.m., will be rescheduled to 10:05 p.m. m., and train No. 7 (Havana → Bayamo-Manzanillo), which until now departed at 7:20 p.m., will now depart at 11:20 p.m.
Return routes from these destinations will maintain their regular schedules, and in case of adjustments or inconveniences, information will be provided promptly throughout the day. The note adds, noting that ticket confirmation can be made with the Viajero Company staff at the station.
We appreciate our passengers’ understanding and reiterate our commitment to providing better service to our population, the publication concludes.
