Ice Cream Production Increases in Holguin for Summer

The Avi-Helados y Conservas Local Development Project (LDP). Located in the municipality of Rafael Freyre, Holguin province. Is increasing its production with the aim of expanding trade with the population during the current summer season.

Currently, in addition to the existing sales outlets at the factory and the El Cocal restaurant. Where ice cream is sold at affordable prices. There are also establishments in Loma de los Limones and in beach areas, ensuring a constant supply and greater availability.

Avi-Helados’ corporate purpose also prioritizes fulfilling orders from sectors such as Education and Public Health. Aimed at strengthening the diets of children and patients in Rafael Freyre institutions. Including the José de la Luz y Caballero Special School, he noted.

Although they operate under a self-management model, and despite the lack of balanced raw materials. They manage to offer a variety of flavors such as mango, guava, and chocolate. Thanks to linkages focused on acquiring inputs from local stakeholders.

These include MSMEs, such as El Cachito de Cacocum. A supplier of ice cream bases—and the Victoria de Girón Agricultural Production Cooperative. From which they obtain fresh fruit depending on the season.

In a second phase, the factory will incorporate the production of preserves because it has the necessary equipment and is progressing on construction work. This will allow for diversifying its offering, reducing costs, and offering more affordable prices to the population.

Paz Peña also highlighted the interest in establishing links with tourism. A key economic sector in the region, which will foster the generation of additional income. That will be used for modernization and expansion of industrialization.

Since its inauguration in early 2025, this LDP has produced more than three tons of ice cream. A goal achieved with the support of the Articulated Platform for Comprehensive Territorial Development. The municipal government, and the Food Production and Distribution Company to which it belongs.
