Holmeca Productions Promote Import Substitution

Héroes del 26 de Julio Mechanical Company (Holmeca) is developing various manufacturing and assembly projects in the province of Holguin. Aimed at agricultural entities and the international market.

Among the main lines of production are the manufacture of implements for Tabacuba. Trailers for garbage collection at airports, the assembly of Belarusian tractors, electric tricycles, and the manufacture of components for foreign equipment leasing companies.

Rolando Batista Paz, the company’s senior production specialist, told the Cuban News Agency that these projects promote the development of the aforementioned companies and, in turn, contribute to import substitution.

He added that they manufacture spare parts and agricultural trailers. Whose variety is also applicable to different crops and is in the validation process.

For his part, Juan José Cardet Bruzón, head of the technical department, reported on the assembly of 3.21-horsepower Belarusian tractors and their implements. Whose characteristics are particularly useful for farmers with small plots of land, such as those growing covered tobacco.

Regarding the Ernesto Che Guevara Nickel Mechanics Company in Moa, the specialist highlighted the production of the M30 x 220 screw. The most in-demand part for that industry, in addition to the manufacture of 67,000 spare parts.

Holmeca focuses on meeting the needs of entities linked to agriculture and other sectors through linkages that allow for import substitution.

The factory was founded on July 27th, 1981, by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro. With the purpose of contributing to the country’s industrialization from the east.
