The Holguin Provincial Center for Visual Arts invites Cuban creators to participate in the 31st edition of the Visual Arts Salon.
The competition will take place from September 10th to 14th of this year. The competition will include a competition, collateral exhibitions, and theoretical spaces. That will be part of a program dedicated to reflecting on this event. Which will remain within the cultural context of Holguin. As well as its challenges and perspectives in the contemporary art scene.
All Cuban artists residing in the country, working in the visual arts in any of its forms, are eligible to participate in the competition. Without restrictions on themes, genres, or techniques.
Each work must be accompanied by a technical sheet specifying the author’s full name. The title of the work, technique and dimensions; and the year of completion.
Installation, performance, or video works must be accompanied by a synopsis or theoretical justification.
Each artist may participate with a maximum of three pieces, dated between 2024 and 2025, that have not received awards at other events.
The jury for the upcoming edition of the Visual Arts Salon will be composed of renowned figures in the field and will award a single prize of 30,000 Cuban pesos (CUP) and any other mentions it deems appropriate.
The organizing committee also announced that the winning artist will have the opportunity to present an exhibition project to the Center for the Development of Visual Arts in Havana.
In order to encourage a greater number of artists, collateral prizes will be awarded by institutions such as the Casa de Iberoamérica. The Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets (FCBC), the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS). And the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC).
Since its creation in 1984, the salon has sought to showcase diverse aesthetic proposals and artistic interests. Thus providing a space for the promotion, dissemination, and encouragement of artistic creation.
