Raúl Rodríguez Peña, a communications icon in Holguin

Now dedicated an exclusive interview to Radio Angulo journalist Raúl Rodríguez Peña. A communications icon in Holguin and currently a correspondent for Radio Cubana in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Highlighting his work in mass media.

The publication reports that Rodríguez Peña, a native of the municipality of Urbano Noris, was raised with values such as humility, gratitude, and constant learning.

Although he does not have a journalism degree, but rather a degree in humanities from the former José de la Luz y Caballero Higher Pedagogical Institute of Holguin. He had a penchant for sports commentary and narration from a young age.

Now highlights that his first collaborations were on Radio SG La voz del Azúcar, where he worked from 2008 to 2016. “I received my comprehensive training at the radio station in my hometown. I completed a Journalism Diploma at the José Martí International Institute of Journalism. I also qualified as a broadcaster, narrator-commentator, and program director.

He joined CMKO as a sports journalist in June 2016, and thanks to Juan Gabriel Gordín. In July of that same year, he began collaborating with Telecristal, producing the Online section of the magazine En Primer Plano. There, he also hosted the programs Noticias Al Cierre and A Buen Tiempo, and appeared on multiple broadcasts on Lente Deportivo. However, what marked a turning point in his career was hosting the COVID-19 Special Magazine.

In his training as a press professional, he cited as role models the renowned radio host Julio García Luis; Walter Martínez, a geopolitical expert who hosted the program Dossier on Telesur for many years. Ricardo Ronquillo Bello, a journalist with Juventud Rebelde and current national president of the Union of Cuban Journalists.

Rodríguez Peña was especially grateful for the teachings of Mayté Santiesteban Fernández regarding television broadcasting. While in sports commentary he followed in the footsteps of Bobby Salamanca, Eddy Martín, and Héctor Rodríguez. Especially those of his colleagues Noire Aguilera Montaña and Ernesto Rondón Jorge. Who offered and enabled him great opportunities in his early days calling games for the National Baseball Series.

He is currently representing Cuban Radio in Venezuela for a two-year period and also collaborates with the multinational Telesur on special coverage.
