From September 29th to October 5th, the mayor of the Antilles will host the 10th Ibero-American Rural Tourism and Agrotourism Meeting. According to the official website of the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Cuba (MINTUR).
The event will be an international forum that will bring together tourism sector specialists from across Latin America to promote sustainable, local, and community models of rural development.
It is also reported that the program is being organized by the Ibero-American Institute of Rural Tourism and the MINTUR (Ministry of Tourism). Where debates on current trends in agrotourism will be fostered through conferences, panels, and professional dialogues.
The event will provide a platform for the exchange of experiences among institutional, private, and community stakeholders linked to tourism.
The Cuban Ministry of Tourism called on all stakeholders in the sector to contribute to this initiative. Which highlights the role of rural tourism as a way to boost local economies, preserve traditions, and strengthen ties with the natural environment.
Rural tourism is emerging as an alternative, essentially characterized by its development in rural areas based on environmental, social, cultural, and economic principles. It represents a new way to diversify income for rural communities and a strategic pillar for the progress of these territories.
Cuba’s tourism offering has been characterized by a predominant sun and beach tourism. Based on international trends governing tourism in the Caribbean islands. However, there is a trend toward diversifying this national tourism product. Toward other offerings that find a favorable space in the national context. Such as nature tourism, ecotourism, and rural tourism.
