Responding to the Martian principle that, ‘the nobility of man is memory,’ the best works submitted to the History of the Agricultural Accountants School of Holguin competition were awarded.
Convened by the La Memoria que Salva Project. As part of the activities for Cuban Historian’s Day, which is celebrated every July 1st. Because on that date in 1935, the title of Historian of the City of Havana was granted to Dr. Emilio Roig de Leuchsenring.
A competent jury, made up of Ventura Carballido Pupo, president of the La Memoria que Salva Project. Jorge Luis Sánchez Infante, president of the ANEC branch; and Víctor Aguilera Nonel, first vice president of the UNHIC in this province. Awarded first, second, and third prizes, respectively, to Mauro Mulet Ochoa, Alecio Serrano Díaz, and Guilian Cruz López.

At the awards ceremony, held in the Revolution Hall of the Provincial Museum of History La Periquera, National Monument, mention was also made of Nelson Carralero Díaz, Julio Cesar Herrera Garcés, and Aldo Zaldívar Díaz, while the sponsors of the contest, Mipyme Frenas conmigo, Limpidus SURL, and Familia Traslúc, were recognized.

The contest about the National School of Agricultural Accountants, founded in 1961 by Fidel Castro and where two courses were developed, responds to the important actions of “The Memory that Saves”, to rescue and preserve pages of history that could be lost without timely and adequate research work.
As insisted by the dedicated leader of that important project, which began to be projected on September 26th, 2003, responding to the call of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, at the Sixth Congress of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR). To save the historical memory of the the largest mass organization in the country.
In the opening words of the awards ceremony, Carballido Pupo — an example of a researcher and writer, with more than a dozen published books — informed that, since 2017, work has been done to gather information about the mentioned school. Related to Fidel’s avant-garde thinking, and highlighted the response to the call from some students of those two courses. From whom many leaders contributed to different spheres of the country at various times.

But he clarified that the subject does not conclude with this contest and the awards given. Since, as the school welcomed students from different provinces of the country, information has been requested from other graduates and even from the State Council, to include it in a book that is currently being worked on.
After several interesting interventions, such as that of Mauro Mulet Ochoa, first prize From the contest. Migdalia Moreno Gómez, coordinator of provincial government programs in Holguin. Acknowledged in the conclusions the positive response of students from the two courses taught at that school. To bring to light their contributions and significance. Not only for agriculture but for other socio-economic spheres of the country. In line with the Martian principle that ‘a school is a forge of spirits’.
