Cuba highlights the potential impact of the EEU on global stability

The Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) transcends regional borders and is projected as a space for cooperation, dialogue, and integration, which are essential foundations for stability, development, prosperity, and world peace, said Miguel Díaz-Canel, President of Cuba.

During his intervention at the meeting of the Eurasian Economic Supreme Council, which is being held this Friday in Minsk, Belarus, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba emphasized that the Forum has experienced sustained progress.

According to the Presidency of Cuba, the leader assured that this process of consolidation is an expression of a collective vision and benefits the economic and social development of the nations and peoples within the integrating space.

Díaz-Canel stressed that economic stability can only be guaranteed if it is accompanied by social justice, access to opportunities, and a shared vision of development.

“Economic stability can only be guaranteed if it is accompanied by social justice, access to opportunities, and a shared vision of development.” In this sense, he pointed out that it is imperative to deploy inclusive strategies that promote equitable growth, ensuring that the benefits of economic integration reach every citizen.

He highlighted Cuba’s strategic location in the Caribbean, and the trade and cooperation agreements that Havana has with almost the entire Latin American región. Which offer significant tariff advantages that can serve as a bridge and added value for products from the Union.

He also announced the signing this Thursday of an agreement for the establishment of a bilateral Committee between the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba and the Council of Entrepreneurs of the EAEU.

In this regard, he commented that this agreement will undoubtedly help create better conditions for businesses. The Eurasian Economic Supreme Council is the most important body of the regional bloc, formed by the heads of the member states of that organization (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia).

The Council meeting is held every year, with the participation of countries with observer status (Cuba, Uzbekistan, and Iran).

Díaz-Canel attends this type of meeting of the Supreme Council of the EAEU in person for the second time, of which the island has been an observer state since December 2020.
