President Miguel Díaz-Canel urged this Wednesday to increase the digital transformation process to promote the comprehensive growth of the country. At the closing of the National Conference 2025 of the Union of Informatics of Cuba (UIC).
The UIC must ensure that the Digital Transformation process advances faster and that its members are the main drivers. The head of state assured during the final day of the event, held at the Convention Palace in the capital.

Díaz-Canel, with his intervention, reaffirmed that in the Caribbean nation, efforts and actions continue to advance digital transformation. As a support for policies and strategies aimed at revitalizing the economy, protecting social programs, and stimulating national development.
At the last date of the National Conference, they also recognized the work of the outgoing president, Aylin Febles, who is the current Deputy Minister of Communications, and Omar Correa was introduced as the new head of the organization.
Precisely, Correa stated that the challenges of the Union correspond to those of the nation in order to advance digital transformation and promote the use of Artificial Intelligence.
He also pointed out that the UIC will support the common good of Cuban socialist society and will work to eliminate resistance to computerization and digital disparities.
Furthermore, he added, it will project actions with the aim of transforming the tech sector. Information and Communication Technologies as a locomotive for the Cuban economy.
