Labor centers in Cuba are getting ready on Monday to carry out consultations on the draft bill of the Labor Code. A process considered as the most important of the labor movement in the archipelago in 2025.
From September 8th to November 30th, workers are expected to enrich the law with their opinions, prior to its presentation before the National Assembly of People’s Power.
According to Ulises Guilarte, general secretary of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba, this process is of great importance for the labor collectives. Since it reaffirms their participation in the destiny of the country.
In order to guarantee the success of the consultations, training seminars for officials and union leaders will be held as from this month, with the accompaniment of jurists and representatives of organizations and institutions.
These will be held from June 10th to 20th at the provincial level and from June 17th to 30th at the municipal level.
According to the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Marta Elena Feitó, adjustments are still being made to the Code. Which is currently in its 16th version, based on the recommendations of organizations, universities and the trade union movement itself, according to the Cuban News Agency.
The draft bill contains several changes aimed at guaranteeing equal rights for all workers. Regardless of the sector or form of management in which they work.
