Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Hotel receives recognition for environmental care

The beach sector of the Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Hotel, located in the seaside resort of Guardalavaca, received today in the province of Holguin the Territorial Environmental Recognition. For its contributions to the economic exploitation of the coast based on sustainable development.

The entity stands out for having certified the basic standards established at international level. Such as hygienic and sanitary conditions, bathing water quality and accessibilit. Among the parameters established to qualify for the award.

It also stands out for mitigating problems associated with the environment by promoting strategies such as recycling and single-use plastics.

Alejandro Torres Gómez de Cádiz Hernández, territorial delegate of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, pointed out that an ecosystemic approach has been applied for several years to reduce the main problems affecting the territory in this sector.

He highlighted the implementation of a policy agenda with components such as the State Plan to confront climate change -Tarea Vida-, legislation aimed at improving the environmental system, protection of biological biodiversity and the transition to a circular economy.

He also stressed the importance of education, awareness and disaster risk reduction. Which is a collective attitude based on the application of public policies.

During the event, the municipalities of Antilla, Urbano Noris and Sagua de Tánamo, the Lázaro Peña Cigar Factory, the Cubaníquel Business Group and the Costa Verde Beach Hotels in Pesquero were recognized for their work in mitigating damage to nature.

World Environment Day was instituted by the United Nations (UN) to promote every June 5th actions related to the conservation of the environment and sustainable use of renewable resources worldwide.

In Cuba, a group of initiatives are developed every year focused on this purpose. Including a collaborative work between the sectors of education and science, in order to preserve natural values.
