The commercial vice-president of Cuban Telecommunications Company S.A. (Etecsa), Lidia Esther Hidalgo, assured this Monday afternoon that the Internet access service from homes in this archipelago will be modified.
During the summer we will announce a new modality, which will be optional, she said in the Mesa Redonda program, in which the changes in the company’s prepaid service offers were discussed.
Thus, she referred to the Nauta Hogar service, a connectivity option from homes, with ADSL technology. Which facilitates Internet access and telephone use simultaneously.
The access plans change according to the number of hours contracted for this service, one of the services that Etecsa wants to sustain and improve. After the unpopular modifications recently adopted in the national recharge and the offers of plans and packages for mobile devices.
Our client base tells us that not everyone has the same conditions: some use up the available hours, others do not. We are going to make an offer that seems to us to be a very interesting modality,” said Hidalgo.
Without revealing details, she assured that the client “will be able to choose which of the options is more attractive and, above all, those who cannot use up their hours will have the possibility of continuing to accumulate them”.
We are practically ready to make the announcement regarding these changes in the summer, she reiterated.
In the program, measures were also announced to facilitate Internet access for university students. Among them the possibility of buying two data plans, with which they could reach 12 gigabytes per month, at a cost of 720 pesos (local currency).
Also, the application in the near future of an extra data plan for less than 3,360 pesos and, as of Monday, the extension of the validity of the plans to 35 days, which can be accumulated.
Also present at the Round Table were the president of Etecsa, Tania Velázquez; the interim minister of Communications, Ernesto Rodríguez; and the president of the Federation of University Students, Ricardo Rodríguez.
