Conceived as a platform to integrate the educational, artistic, dance and humorous aspects to the community, the Music with Humor Festival begins today and until June 4th in Holguin, dedicated on this occasion to the 114th anniversary of Faustino Oramas, El Salvador.
Maira Escalona, producer of the event, informed in a press conference that the broad program of activities is intended to differ from previous editions by a closer relationship with the community and with the students of the province’s art schools.
She exemplified that will be carried out through television and radio meetings with relatives and friends of the Guayabero, through exhibitions and various concerts that celebrate the Faustino’s way of composing.
The organizer of the meeting also highlighted as a significant moment the exhibition “Humor between music and graphics” and the show “El Guayabero continues to be an inspiration”, with the insertion of works by students from the Academia Regional de Artes El Alba and the Conservatorio de Música José María Ochoa.
This marks a distinctive aspect of previous editions by promoting an exchange of knowledge among artists and perpetuating the work of the popular minstrel, she said.
The event’s program includes musical, humorous and dance shows, with guest artists Lucrecia Marín, the Cari Care duo and Gilberto Delgado.
The Music with Humor Festival is dedicated to honor the memory of Faustino Oramas Osorio, who died in 2007. He was an outstanding troubadour and tres player whose work, internationally recognized and awarded, made popular the well-known songs “Ay Candela” and “How Marieta dances”.
