President Claudia Sheinbaum called the election of the judiciary a success. Noting that some 13 million Mexicans voted freely for “the new guardians of justice” in this nation.
“The historic election of the judiciary this June 1st, 2025 has been a complete success.” The chief executive said last night in a video published through her account on the social network X.
“We must not forget that the current judiciary, which some defend, has been responsible for favoring members of organized crime and released billions of pesos from white-collar crime,” she said.
She recalled that half of the judiciary, as stated by its own president. Reached their positions by nepotism, not by having participated in a judicial career.
Data from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection reveal that between last year and this year alone. There have been almost 200 decisions by jurisdictional bodies that favored or sought to benefit criminals with transfers, releases and definitive discharges.
Sheinbaum affirmed that with the new judiciary, the Juarist wish of “nothing outside the law, no one above the law” will become a reality.
“Yes, Mexico is the most democratic country in the world. To all Mexicans I say: let us have confidence. We are living an extraordinary moment. We are a free, sovereign, independent country, fairer and more democratic every day,” she said.
Millions of Mexicans were summoned to the polls this Sunday to choose 881 positions of judges, magistrates and ministers at federal level (the other part will be defined in 2027). In addition to some 1,800 local positions in 19 states of the nation.
