With the objective of debating on the work of the organization in the territory. The Provincial Council of the Federation of High School Students (FEEM by it’s initials in Spanish) met in the university campus José de la Luz y Caballero of Holguin, which gathered 56 delegates.
The event was attended by Arley Silva Velázquez, coordinating official of the National Committee of the Union of Young Communists (UJC in the Spanish acronym). Elisbel Durán Borroto, provincial secretary of the UJC. Ana Bárbara García Zúñiga, ideological responsible of the FEEM at national level; and Ana Laura Lago Sánchez, provincial president of the FEEM in Holguin.
During the working sessions, the delegates demonstrated the character of a stronger, tougher and more revolutionary generation by addressing in depth the main challenges during the school year. As well as the need to promote the participation of young people in decision-making.
In addition, core issues such as the functioning of the groups as a basic cell, vocational training and professional orientation, recreational spaces, communication work and women’s voluntary military service were analyzed. Which occupied a prominent place in the discussions. The diversity of opinions and proposals showed the interest of the young people in participating in this process.
In this scenario, Elisbel Durán Borroto emphasized the importance of materializing transforming projects in the student bases. Highlighting the need to constantly improve the integral formation of all students. He called on the youth to assume a leading role as motors of social change. Participating actively and consciously in the various initiatives that contribute to the development of the territory.
Also the maximum leader of the student organization in Holguin made clear the will of the organization to continue being spokeswoman of the aspirations of the membership. She also stressed the commitment to achieve academic excellence. To strengthen the revolutionary principles and to be always ready to fulfill the tasks entrusted to them.
The Provincial Council reinforced the place of the FEEM as the backbone of a youth willing to continue with its foot in the stirrup. Assuming that through study, political preparation and organized work they will be able to face the challenges ahead.
