Two Holguineros to take part in Cuba-France boxing match

Two Holguineros are included in the Cuban squad that will take part in a boxing match against France scheduled for June 7th in that country and headed by two-time Olympic champion Julio Cesar La Cruz.

Holguin’s Jorge Soto (80 kilos), silver medalist in the last three Playa Giron national championships, is included in that list and is scheduled to close the evening as opponent of local Benjamín Mendes in a six-round professional fight.

The other representative of our province is Carlos Aguilera, who will fight Abdoulaye Traore at 85 kilograms.

Along with La Cruz, five-time world champion and holder of fifteen national crowns. Who will fight in the over 90 kilograms division, also standing out in the Creole team is Alejandro Claro, world bronze medalist and current national champion, who will face Roulio Gaucher in the 50 kilograms division.

Other headliners of the Playa Giron Camagüey-2025 that make up the roster of the Cuba-France boxing bout are in the 57 kg Rolando Martinez vs Izaya Gauchern, in the 60 kg Luis Vinent vs Yacine Ettouir, in the 80 kg Keilor Garcia vs Yojerlin Cesar and in the 92 kg Nelson William vs Soheb Bouafia.

The island’s fighters will travel to France on June 3rd and will hold joint training sessions with their host counterparts.

This is an excellent opportunity for Cuban boxers. Especially for the young stars who will be able to prove themselves internationally.
