Thousands of Holguin residents filled the Plaza de la Revolución Mayor General Calixto García Íñiguez this Thursday to celebrate International Workers’ Day.
The National Union of Health Workers led the parade for the proletarian anniversary. Followed by more than 200,000 workers representing the working class in Holguin. Who today reaffirmed their commitment to the homeland.

Accompanying the people of Holguin were Inés María Chapman, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba. Teresa Amarelle Boué, Secretary General of the Federation of Cuban Women. Joel Queipo Ruiz, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Holguin. Eloy Albares Martínez, Minister of Industry. Manuel Hernández Aguilera, Governor of the territory; and Idalmis Serrano Gómez, General Secretary of the Cuban Workers’ Central Union (CTC in the Spanish acronym) in the province.
The stages leading up to this march became spaces to boost production in this northeastern territory. Defend the just causes of the people, and strongly repudiate imperialist sanctions against Cuba.
International Workers’ Day in Holguin was a special moment to honor the workers’ struggle and pay tribute to those who have dedicated their lives to the work and progress of the nation.
With the slogan “For Cuba, together we create,” Holguin workers continue to demonstrate their commitment and dedication to the homeland. In the parade, among the large union bloc, the Civil Defense Workers stood out, along with the Health and Public Administration Workers Union.
Among the medium-sized unions, the Industries Union took first place, followed by the Food and Fisheries Union and the Transportation and Ports Union.

Among the small unions, the Energy and Mines, Culture, and Tourism unions took first place.
