Aclifim Implements Community Projects in Holguin

The Cuban Association of Physically and Motorly Disabled (Aclifim). In the province of Holguin is implementing new community projects in 2025. With the goal of improving the quality of life and promoting the social inclusion of school-aged children.

These children have priority access to support services, educational programs, and outreach activities. Included in the strategic axes of this organization. Which has more than seven thousand members in the eastern territory.

Alfonso Bermúdez, vice president of Aclifim, told CNA that this year programs are being implemented. Focused on surveys on severe disabilities to determine the psychosocial conditions of these groups.

He emphasized that these include research on brachial palsy, Down syndrome, and other pathologies. Taking into account age, type of disability, and additional characteristics to implement accessibility-related policies.

The results obtained are used in municipalities such as Banes, Gibara, and Holguin to establish housing priorities. Eliminate architectural barriers, and provide access to vocational schools and outpatient teachers.

In addition, these children between the ages of five and 18 are enrolled in programs that combine rehabilitation with dance, music, and theater. As part of their development and adaptability to different types of motor limitations.

The eastern province, among those with the highest rate of people with disabilities in Cuba. It has also been the site of studies to define national strategies and strategic plans for Aclifim. With the goal of improving the living conditions of its members.

This organization, with offices in 14 municipalities, contributes to its members’ access to education, work, art, and culture. Also promotes a full life for those with physical and motor disabilities.
