Technological and Industrial Scientific Park in Holguin

A new path to development under the gaze of the main provincial authorities. And with the presence of representatives from the academic and business sectors. The eastern province of Holguin took a decisive step in its development with the official pre-launch of the Technological and Industrial Scientific Park (NUCL3UM).

This project arises in response to three fundamental needs: technological, social, and environmental. And was conceived as a cutting-edge ecosystem aimed at promoting innovation through collaboration. Among academic institutions, businesses, and the government.

Its mission is to lead technological transformation in the territory. Integrating the public, private, and academic sectors. And its main focus will be the creation of innovative solutions that address local and international demands. With special emphasis on strategic areas such as health and energy.

The development of such an ambitious project will promote the adoption of technologies that promote economic growth. Without neglecting the ecological balance. It is also proposed to promote synergy between universities, research centres and companies, facilitating the transfer of knowledge. At the same time, it guarantees the inclusion of young people, women and vulnerable communities in innovation processes.

Dr. Carlos Rafael Batista Matamoros, president of NUCL3UM, stressed that the project allows the creation of more competitive companies. Promoting ideas of citizens and any of the forms of management that the Cuban economic and social system has. At the same time, a tool for the territorial development of Holguin was born.

“Companies from Granma and Las Tunas have also joined the Park. So it aims to have a regional dimension,” said the young researcher.

This project not only aspires to consolidate itself as the main innovation center in Cuba. But also to position Holguin as a relevant player in the global technological scenario. To this end, work will be done to strengthen local capacities and expand international alliances that allow for a high impact on the development of the region.

NUCL3UM will be a space where creativity and science come together to generate solutions. That improve people’s quality of life, as it is governed by principles of quality, equity and sustainability. Ensuring that each initiative contributes to the social and economic development of the region. With this opening, Holguin is moving towards a future where technology and innovation are fundamental pillars of its progress.

The Scientific, Technological and Industrial Park marks a before and after in the economic history of Holguin. With its modern conception, integrative vision and clear objectives. This project could become the model to follow for sustainable technological development in Cuba. Its success will depend on the ability to maintain cohesion among all actors. To translate innovative ideas into concrete results for the population.
