The Provincial Center of Plastic Arts organizes the IV Colloquium of Critical and Historiographic Studies on Visual Arts in Holguin. With the purpose of disseminating research in this field.
According to Yuricel Moreno Zaldívar, director of the Provincial Center for Plastic Arts. The Colloquium arose in 2021 due to the need to publicize and share research that is developed in university centers and cultural institutions on the visual arts in the province of Holguin. Because sometimes, they do not transcend the institutional environments where they originate.
This event, to be held from April 1 to 2 as part of the celebrations for the 480th anniversary of the founding of the Hato and the 305th anniversary of the town of San Isidoro de Holguin. Circumscribes the investigations to the space of the city. However, other issues with points of agreement with the territory are not exempt, Moreno explained.
Since the launch of the call, participants are invited to choose one of the proposed topics to present their research and experiences in the sector.
The topics available are wide and include: Art Pedagogy and Art Education; Studies on personalities, manifestations and local art; Artistic heritage. Its management and promotion; the art market and its system of relations at the local level.
“There are many edges in which research and criticism on this manifestation can contribute a lot of knowledge. Both for the promotional teaching work and for the curatorial work that we develop in an institution such as the Provincial Center of Plastic Arts Holguin,” said the Doctor of Sciences.
On the importance of the event, she stressed: “It is a way to get up to date with who are those who are carrying out these investigations, the topics of interest. Also to visualize what are the gaps in knowledge that still need to be worked on, since the history or historiography of the plastic arts in Holguin is still to be written.”
In this IV edition of the Colloquium of Critical and Historiographic Studies on Visual Arts. The union with the House of Higher Studies is strengthened: “We achieved alliances with the University of Holguin so that this participation has an academic credit. Which is quite important for all those people who are in the process of academic improvement.”
The closing of the call is almost over, as it is scheduled for March 24, which will give way to the analysis and selection of the research received for the subsequent celebration of the Colloquium in the first days of April.
