His ties with Cuba began in 2008, when he traveled to Cienfuegos as a tourist and held interesting exchanges with workers. Given his status as an experienced trade unionist who, for almost ten years, has been a professional member of the UNIFOR unión.
The largest in his country, with more than 320,000 members, with a predominance of the private sector. He then remained for more than two years in Santa Clara, about whose experiences he published several articles. Also he returned to Cuba in 2011, 2013 and since then he has done so every year.
Lefebvre resides in the city of Iroquois Falls, in the northern region of Ontario. Where he worked as an instrumentation engineer until his retirement. Devoting himself to union work, in which he accumulates a lot of experience.
Precisely, from his position as a union leader, he has exercised his altruistic vocation to cooperate with Cuba. In coordination with ICAP, in the face of the damage caused by the economic, financial and commercial blockade, which the United States government has maintained against this noble and heroic people, for more than six decades.
In this way, his project “A container for Cuba”, which he has directed for two years. Will be able to make greater contributions from his union with others. Moreover in charge of the reception, purchase and storage of donations. For whose transportation money contributed by trade unionists will be used.
In this solidary enterprise, the Granma-Canadian Julio Fonseca, with the Association of Cubans residing in Toronto Juan Gualberto Gómez. Of which he is its coordinator, and Jennifer Raymer, director of the Together for Cuba project, in London, Ontario, are dedicated body and soul.
