As José Martí said, thanking is a pleasure, there are those who bow their heads when they meet health professionals who attend to patients with such care and in a very particular way when it comes to minors, such as Dr. Ana Patricia Rivas Naranjo, deputy clinical director of the Octavio de la Concepción y de la Pedraja Pediatric Hospital.
This passionate woman gives herself body and soul to the profession she dreamed since childhood, when she played at being a doctor; after her studies at the University of Medical Sciences, Lucía Íñiguez Landín received her degree six years ago, but she did not stop until she won the specialty in resuscitation anesthesiology.
You have to be very strong emotionally to care for children with oncological diseases and other pathologies, in the midst of the material limitations caused by the U.S. blockade, but the love, human sensitivity and knowledge of our workers are imposed, as is recognized, not only in Cuba, but in the countries where we provide cooperation missions, said the young specialist.
Thanks to the help provided by people and groups from different parts of the world, the lives of children with very aggressive diseases can be saved, to whose care the workers of the Holguin pediatric hospital are dedicated, for whom nothing is more important than seeing them recover and smile.
Dr. Ana Patricia recognizes that the love, dedication and passion with which minors are cared for in the oncohematology room is so great that there are teachers, doctors and nurses who, once retired, return to the care center. This attitude is appreciated by the group and the relatives of the patients.
Woman, perpetual rainbow
Blessed by nature, this excellent professional and communicator cannot hide the emotion and passion she feels when speaking about her hospital, her co-workers and, especially, the children, when they give a smile, perhaps as the best form of gratitude they know.
At the provincial headquarters of ICAP, I was inspired by his professionalism, when she explained the benefits of some medicines from Canada and the U.S. Hatuey Project, whose gestures she thanked.
Ana Patricia confessed to me that life rewarded her with a beautiful family, because her parents, an industrial engineer and educator, formed the values that distinguish her and to complete, she has a wonderful three-year-old son, whose paternity she shares with the doctor, José Alejandro Cobas, a specialist in orthopedics and traumatology.
To make matters worse, he specified that, as an innovator, he made an instrument for knee surgeries with his own means, with the support of the hospital and a good turner, whose anire project has already been patented.
For her unquestionable merits and on the occasion of International Women’s Day, it must be recognized that Ana Patricia is an example of dedication in the Health sector.
