With the progress in the installation of photovoltaic panels and heaters in processing centers, the Numa Food Producing and Distributing Company in the province of Holguin, is progressing in the change of the energy matrix of its processes in order to make them continuous.
Kirenia Balada Peña, director of the entity, explained to ACN that, as part of compliance with government guidelines that advocate for this transformation, they began to adopt the use of renewable energy sources, which not only allowed them to reduce electricity costs, but also avoids the cessation of productive activity in different lines of industry.
In a complex context for the acquisition of fossil fuels, these technologies are an efficient alternative aimed at maintaining the operation of the units, which is why they developed a project with the collaboration of institutions such as Cubasolar where they carry out the placement and other technical tasks in stages, she said.
Currently, five processing centers, with nine levels of activity ranging from confectionery to pasta production, are benefiting from ten heaters, including the Las Coloradas bakery in the municipality of Moa, in addition to panels with which about six kilowatts are generated.
Balada pointed out that the placement of the ten thermal systems, essential for the mini-industries in which ice cream is prepared because it requires large amounts of hot water, also allowed the reduction of costs in the purchase of liquefied gas previously used by these factories.
The Articulated Platform for Integral Territorial Development (PADIT in the Spanish acronym) and the Local Development Capacity Building Program have contributed to these actions, which donated about 27 photovoltaic panels to a mini-industry located in the rural community of Cañada Onda in the municipality of Calixto García.
The Numa Company of Holguin, which has more than 180 production centers and three state trading companies throughout the territory, has among its priorities the materialization of a fourth small company, the increase of farms destined to the supply of resources and the chaining with entities that contribute to obtaining the results that the people need.
