Workshops in Holguin consolidate the Memory that Saves project

With the unconditional support of the Party and the Government in Holguin, the foundations are created to strengthen, increase and preserve historical memory, through the celebration of workshops, which have had a wide participation, together with the main authorities of each territory and its creator and promoter, Ventura Carballido Pupo.

The prolific writer, researcher, historian, political analyst, legal consultant, consecrated sports activist and professor of management techniques, accompanied by members of his Memoria Que Salva Project, has already held nine workshops, with very positive results, missing only those in the municipalities of Banes, Holguin, Rafael Freyre, Cacocum and the provincial one, scheduled for the month of April.

Ventura signified the interest in expanding and consolidating the work and support of the highest political authority of this eastern territory and member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Joel Queipo Ruiz, who outlined an effective line of thought.

In this sense is the passion with which such vital work must be addressed, in documentary defense of history in its different stages, as well as promoting research, recovery of documents, socialization and integration of factors and promoting direct work with children and young people. In the same way, he called for the rescue of monuments throughout the province, because they are temples of our history and must be preserved.

Queipo Ruiz also proposed that the Memoria Que Salva Project not only be of local development, but that, due to its high social content, it becomes the first to be placed within the Multithematic Scientific and Technological Park of Cuba, to be built in Holguin; and he also considered that strategic alliances are essential to digitize and protect all the information of the project.

Another point in favor of Memoria Que Salva was conceived a few days ago when the Provincial Branch of the National Union of Historians of Cuba (UNHIC) assumed the control and promotion of the project, to which Ventura has dedicated himself, in the midst of many other activities that occupy him.

In the workshops, which are being held in the municipalities – with the same quality as those held in Mayari and Cueto, in addition to extending the experiences of what has been done, including the work of the History Archive and the prominence of several specialists and activists – work teams are formed to attend to everything related to historical memory.
