UCMHo graduates more than 900 health professionals

The University of Medical Sciences of Holguin (UCMHo in the Spanish acronym), among the highest enrollment in Cuba, graduated this Friday more than 900 new professionals, who will provide their services in primary, tertiary and hospital health care in the territory.

On this occasion, 490 of the graduates belong to the career of Medicine, 13 to Stomatology, 189 to Nursing and 205 to the modality of short-cycle higher technicians and two of other nationalities.

Melissa Pupo Pino, best graduate of Medicine, expressed gratitude to the faculty and her family, who have supported her unconditionally during several years of study.

She ratified the commitment of the recent graduates to the continuity of the Revolution and the exercise of their profession according to the values acquired in the academy.

Dr. Galina Galcerán, rector of the house of higher studies, pointed out the challenges and difficulties imposed on this promotion, the 47th of the Holguin university, despite which the students managed to complete the academic exercise and graduate in the different branches.

She urged the graduates to remain faithful to their principles and put all their efforts into offering patients optimal and quality care.

During the day, 77 students belonging to the Mario Muñoz Monroy Vanguard Detachment and the best in culture, sports, and research were also recognized, and 236 Gold Titles were awarded.

Since its foundation, the UCMHo has trained more than 48 thousand professionals, including two thousand foreigners from 40 nations, the most representative being the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Plurinational State of Bolivia and the countries of the African continent.
