The Humor Promotion Center CPH in the Spanish acronym) recognized the Caricare Duo, made up of Onelio Escalona and Mireya Abreu Pérez, for their 30 years of artistic career as part of the program and dedication of the 11th edition of the National Satiricon Festival 2025.
The entertainment praised the duo from Holguin for their career and multiple awards at the Aquelarre Humor Festival, the most important of its kind, and for the staging of numbers that combine the different ways of doing things within the genre, such as the monologue and the sketch (comic performance that is integrated into a theatrical or television ensemble).
Eider Pérez, director of the CPH and president of the Satiricon organizing committee, explained that Caricare, created in 1995, is distinguished not only for its multi-award-winning career, but also for its work as instructors, drivers and educators in its three decades of existence, and for encouraging young people to venture into ways of making clever humor.
For numbers like the Monologue of the T, which have transcended the Cuban comedy scene, the desire to improve, the dedication they put in every time they go on stage, this makes them, at 30 years old, one of the best exponents in the country, Pérez pointed out.
Within the program of the festival, made up of nine shows and workshops, conferences and exchanges at the headquarters of the University of Holguin, the world premiere of the number “Los plagiadores de Etcétera” stands out; “Juicio Final”, directed by Osvaldo Doimeadios; and “2025, giving firewood”, by La Leña del Humor, directed by Maikel Ferralbo.
The National Festival of Satirical Humor, considered the second most important in the country after the Havana Coven, has an annual appointment in the city of Holguin, establishing itself since its first editions at an ideal time to celebrate the talent of renowned artists from the largest of the Antilles.
