The University of Holguin participated in the XV Symposium of Mathematics and the XIV International Congress of Computer-Assisted Mathematics that was held from February 20 to 22 in Bogotá, Colombia.

This event brought together experts and academics from the mathematical field, offering a space conducive to the exchange of ideas and collaboration around the teaching and application of mathematics.

The Holguin representation had two representatives: Dr. Yensy Torres Oliva, specialized in the production of educational software. In addition, Dr. Miguel Cruz Ramírez, with extensive experience in the field of mathematics education and research in Number Theory and scientometrics, who studies scientific production in order to measure and analyze.

Both specialists brought with them research and knowledge that position the University of the territory on the international stage. Their participation not only highlights the institution’s commitment to academic development, but also opens doors for future collaborations in the field of mathematics.

According to Cruz, at the event he gave the presentation: “Sismondi’s amazing theorem. Some examples of its application in Mathematics Olympiads”. Conference that he developed with several participants of the event from Spain, the United States, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Colombia itself.

“This is the eighth edition in which I participate and I have been able to see this event grow for the better, with increasing participation of international delegates, as well as the quality of the works presented. Moreover Cuba has been represented in several editions in person with researchers from various parts of the country, explained the also professor of Pure Mathematics at the University of Holguin.

The symposium was structured in nine thematic study groups, where the main lines of research focused on the coherent improvement of the teaching-learning of mathematics, both in basic education and in Higher Education, were discussed. This approach seeks to strengthen educational methodologies and adapt them to current needs.

Likewise, the event was held in a hybrid, face-to-face and virtual way, with researchers from all over the world. Among the topics discussed in this edition, the analysis of the presence of artificial intelligence in education also stood out.

The central activities of the event took place in the Colombian capital, headquarters of the Antonio Nariño University, recognized for being a pioneer in offering Master’s and Doctoral programs in Mathematics Education and Doctorate in Applied Science in Colombia. This private university has been a benchmark in academic training in the area of mathematics and its application.

The XV Symposium on Mathematics and the XIV International Congress on Computer-Assisted Mathematics are presented as a great opportunity for participants, not only to exchange ideas, but also to foster joint growth in the field of mathematics and computing.

The University of Holguin, by being part of this prestigious meeting, reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence and its desire to contribute to the advancement of mathematical knowledge at a global level.
