Film production with scarce resources and the use of photography in cinema were some of the topics addressed by filmmakers Jorge Molina and Jesús Antonio Urrutia Valencia during the XVII edition of the National Audiovisual Festival “Por Primera Vez” in Holguin.
Jorge Molina, actor and film director, in an exchange with students and beginners in the artistic manifestation, explained the importance of developing the production process correctly where the budget is optimized and the technique is not an obstacle, but an ease.
Poor cinema does not mean poorly made cinema, if the material is of limited resources it must be full of ideas and alternatives and executed with the same rigor as one with a larger budget, he said.
He also commented that for a better work with the actors it is necessary to know the life of the characters, from their birth to death, despite the fact that in the film only one stage of it is narrated to facilitate histrionic preparation and their bond with the person they play.
For his part, Urrutia Valencia, during the analysis of the short film “The Last Fight”, discussed how to enhance the dramatic narrative of the product through framing, static shots and high contrast of images, and explained that in this type of format it is important to draw stories that allow the viewer to shape their own due to the short duration they have.
The 17th edition of the National Audiovisual Festival Por Primera Vez is dedicated to the promotion and visualization of the creation of young filmmakers and has an extensive program of activities that includes screenings, talks and workshops.
