Connections to hydraulic networks increase in Holguin

The increase in connections to hydraulic and sanitary networks is one of the strategies developed in the province of Holguin for the attention to vulnerable neighborhoods, one of the government programs prioritized in this eastern territory.

This proposal benefits rural areas that are difficult to access and the Turquino Plan with the improvement of the health conditions and quality of life of the residents in these population settlements, Juan Mario Echavarría Hernández, delegate of Hydraulic Resources, told ACN.

He pointed out that work is being done in the search for solutions for the evacuation of waste, including the completion of a simplified sewer system on 14th Street, in the Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood of the capital city, in response also to the proposals of the population.

He explained that despite the difficulties with the supply of fuel and spare parts for cars, these settlements are prioritized in the programs of unblocking and elimination of flood zones.

At the same time, the director said, the draft of water in pipes is reduced and the identification of own sources of supply such as wells continues to increase the possibilities of service and reduce cycles, which exceed 70 days.

This project benefited more than seven thousand inhabitants in five of these neighborhoods in 2024 and feasibility studies are being carried out focused on continuing to increase these figures, while increasing investments aimed at the rehabilitation and maintenance of conductors and execution of networks.

Holguin has about 35 vulnerable neighborhoods distributed in the 14 municipalities where a transformation agenda is being undertaken that involves sectors such as Health, Education, Culture and Water Resources adapted to the needs and demands of each locality.
