The first day of Ediciones La Luz at the 33rd Havana International Book Fair (FILH2025 in Spanish acronym) included participation in a panel dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Territorial Editions System.
The space, convened by the Professional Book Fair, brought together the writers Roberto Méndez and Luis Yuseff on the same panel. The author of Aliosha’s Notebook, the first book of the SET, published by the Camagüey publishing house Ácana, took a tour of the founding years of the System and recalled several of the important moments that productions of this type have contributed to the culture of the different territories of the country.
Luis Yuseff, an author who also published his first book, El traidor a las palomas, with the seal of Ediciones Holguin, recalled the emergence of the five publishing houses of the Hermanos Saiz Association at the end of the nineties, and how they joined the SET a few years later. Also, he highlighted the contribution of these titles to the formation of a literary catalog of the country, beyond the leadership of national publishers.
In a second moment, he presented the campaign to promote the book and reading “A blow of light”, as a tribute to all the professionals, technicians and filmmakers who remain linked to the production of the book in Cuba.
The panel ended with the screening of the cartoon Mediavuelta, based on the story of the same name by writer Eric Adrián Pérez, included in the anthology Retoños de almendro, published by Ediciones La Luz in 2012.
Likewise, on the second day of the 33rd edition of the Havana International Book Fair Alpidio Alonso-Grau, Minister of Culture of Cuba, visited the Pavilion of the Territorial Editions System (SET in Spanish acronym) in Room K4 of the San Carlos de la Cabaña Fortress.
In a brief conversation, he was explained about the presence at the stand of the labels Ediciones Holguin, Ediciones La Luz and Cuadernos Papiro, the work of the Holguin Observatory and the experience developed in the work of Culture-Tourism.
On behalf of the management of the Provincial Center for Books and Literature of Holguin, he was presented with the editorial news that will be presented on the 21st and a copy of a book by Cuadernos Papiro.
