The squad of journalists from Holguin is ready to take part in the twenty-second National Press Softball Tournament, and win the crown, in the event to take place in the province of Matanzas from the 17th to the 21st of this month with the presence of seven other teams.
As confirmed by director Jorge Ramiro Velázquez Remón, the objective will be to return to the final again and try to unseat the national media favorite.
The roster is made up of Receivers Flabio Gutiérrez and Lázaro Ávila, as infielders are Raúl Rodríguez and Roberto Carlos Rodríguez, both from Radio Angulo; the student Rafael Pérez, José Antonio Ávila, Yolexis Suárez, Iván Guerra, and the Guantanamo reinforcement Diosdany Reyes.
As outfielders appear Abel Castro, who will also serve as pitcher, Fernando Ballester, Lázaro Andrés Reyes and the reinforcement from Las Tunas Ángel Luis Batista.
The registered pitchers are Richard Driggs and veteran Jorge Ramiro Velázquez, from Radio Angulo. As head of the delegation, German Veloz Placencia.
The Holguin press team will debut next Monday the 17th against their colleagues from the Isla de la Juventud and on that same date they will face the hosts from Matanzas; A day later they will face Ciego de Avila and the Vaqueros de Artemisa and Mayabeque.
The date of the 19th will bring matches against Santiago de Cuba and National Media, and to close the qualifying stage on the 20th against Camagüey, a day that foresees the semifinal matches of first against fourth and second against third.
The winners of these matches will compete for first place on the 21st at the Victoria de Giron stadium, known as the Palacio de los Crocodiles.
