The use of Jusvinza in patients with rheumatoid arthritis with moderate to severe activity left positive experiences in Holguin, for which details are being finalized to carry out a new clinical trial with this biotechnological product.
The rheumatologist and head of this service at the Lucía Íñiguez Landín Clinical Surgical Hospital, Alberto Alberteris Rodríguez, said that the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology reported that a new, more rigorous clinical trial is being planned, designed only for patients in Holguin.
After the completion of the study with this medication in the territory last year, satisfactory results were achieved. At the beginning of the intervention study, the hypothesis was to ensure that 70 percent of the included patients achieved an improvement of at least 20 percent, and an improvement of more than 95 percent was obtained.
Jusvinza is a Cuban biotechnological product made up of a 27 amino acid molecule with an anti-inflammatory effect and modulator of the immune response.
Currently, it is progressively incorporated into the different health areas of the province, for which the doctors and personnel in charge of its application received training. At the Lucía Hospital, the use of Jusvinza continues in cases that come to the institution and are evaluated by a group of specialists for inclusion.
The previous expanded intervention study with this drug focused on the eastern provinces and Camagüey, where an improvement in the quality of life of numerous patients was evident, so much of the 77 participants, according to the inclusion criterion, an improvement of 96.55 percent was achieved.
Since rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disease where the immune system attacks its own tissues, it causes great pain to those who suffer from it. So, having effective treatments like Jusvinza represents an advance in the management and treatment of this disease. Holguin professionals are in charge of the study with Jusvinza.
