Holguin Gala for the 66th years of the Cuban Revolution

With a political-cultural gala in front of La Periquera Provincial Museum Holguin celebrated the 66th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.

The gala, which recalled the first of January 1959 when Cuba made possible the dream of freedom, was presided over by member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz; Joel Queipo Ruiz, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba in Holguin; Manuel Francisco Hernandez Aguilera, Governor in the province and other political and governmental authorities of the territory.

Under the direction of maestro Oreste Saavedra, the Holguin Symphony Orchestra shared the stage with several Holguin artists such as the Oral Narration Company Palabras al Viento; Feeling Voices; soloists Marien Hernandez; trova singer Fernando Cabreja; Liz Ponce de Leon; Claudia Verdecia and Nadiel Mejias.

The gala, in front of the place from where the eternal Commander in Chief Fidel Castro first addressed the people of Holguin on February 26, 1959, was a tribute to son and trova, pillars of culture that represent the idiosyncrasy of the Cuban people.

The celebration of this anniversary recognizes the efforts of the people and the workers, who, in the midst of the escalating aggressions of the U.S. government against Cuba, have overcome multiple adversities to continue the work of the Revolution.
