Sagua and Moa will join Mayari in baseball quarterfinals

Mayari defeated Cueto team twice this Monday, in pending games of the qualification stage, thus reaffirming its winning spell (19-1), and standing first in the Eastern Division of the Holguin Baseball League; outcomes that the squads of Sagua de Tánamo and Moa to qualify for the quarterfinals of the 47th Provincial Baseball Series.

Mayari’s victories playing as visitors at Luis Alberto Rodríguez stadium, grabbed the win in the first match (4-3), in ten innings, when Andriu Valido, loser, walked Edward Magaña with the bases loaded.

Reliever Enrique Machado that won was supported on offense by Armando Leyva (2-3), and Emilio Torres, (2-4) with one run batted in.

The second win for Mayari (5-3) saw thrower Yordanis Bernado winning, who was supported by Emilio Torres and outstanding batting from Yeison Pacheco (3-4) with a homerun, Luis Lawrence (1-1), a two-run homer to reaffirm his leading position in runs batted in with 22, and also Jorge Luis Peña (3-3). The setback went to Edson Cordón.

Sagua and Moa will join Mayari in baseball quarterfinals

Poor field conditions at Remigio Marrero stadium due to heavy rains prevented the two matches from taking place between the Tiburones of Antilla and the Mineros of Moa.

This Wednesday 27th Mayari team will visit Moa, Sagua will host Antilla and Báguanos to Cueto, and on Friday 29th Mayari will play in Moa, and Sagua de Tanamo will receive Antilla; playing home Báguanos will face Cueto.

With Mayari, Sagua and Moa secured for the postseason, the fourth and final ticket for the East is up for grabs between Báguanos (12-9) and Cueto (11-12), and the only option for the latter is for the team of Baguanos to lose the three remaining games, that is to say, the one they have pending between them and the two against Sagua de Tánamo.
