The Cuban Ministry of Culture, the Cuban Film Institute (Icaic for its Spanish acronym), the Government of Holguin province and the Government of the munjiciplaity of Gibara have called for the participation in the 19th edition of the Gibara International Low Budget Film Festival, to be held April 15-19, 2025.
The Festival, which is annually hosted by the city of Gibara, located in the province of Holguin, retakes the name of Cine Pobre (Low Budget), with which it was created, and with which the people of Gibara, as well as all Cubans, have continued to identify it, and with which it is equally recognized in international scenarios, as a sign of the mark left by the Manifesto of Cine Pobre, presented by its founder Humberto Solas in 2001.
The Festival will be held again in April, as in its first editions, and is characterized for being a multicultural event and a festival for all the arts, but focused on cinema. The competition will be open to film materials of any nationality, presented in their original language and with Spanish subtitles, whose completion date is from 2023 until the closing date of this call for entries.
The following categories will compete: fiction feature film, fiction short film, documentary feature film, documentary short film, animation and experimental audiovisual.
