The provincial event for the 39th anniversary of the establishment of November 19 as Physical Culture and Sports Day was held in the surroundings of the parking lot of the Major General Calixto Garcia stadium, in the city of Holguin.
The celebration ceremony, presided over by the highest political and governmental authorities of the province, was in charge of the Little Artists Brigade of several children circles of the city, the rhythmic gymnastics team of the EIDE Pedro Díaz Coello, dance performances of the Elementary School of Art of Holguín, the Cuban School of Wushu and simultaneous performances carried out by the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder).
The event for the Day of Physical Culture and Sports in Holguin was, without a doubt, an exciting activity. Seeing the children happily performing their physical exercises is the result of the dedication of their coaches and teachers.
That emotion was also reflected in the grandparents’ circles, who despite all the problems that affect them, sport and physical activity proved once again that it is a benefit for mental and physical health and, of course, ensures a healthier future.
This day is celebrated in Cuba every November 19 to commemorate the emergence of revolutionary sports throughout the country.
On a day like this, but in 1961, Fidel Castro addressed the delegates to the Congress of Volunteer Councils of Inder to close its first plenary session.
