In the night of November 16, 2024, it was celebrated in the main hall Raul Camayd of the cultural complex theater Eddy Suñol, of the city of Holguin, the great concert of the lyrical theater Rodrigo Prats in its 62 anniversary of foundation.
Inaugurated on November 16, 1962 by Raúl Camayd, the Rodrigo Prats Lyric Theater of Holguín during its more than six decades of creation has participated in numerous international festivals in Colombia, Venezuela and Peru and has worked with masters such as Armando Suárez del Villar, José Ramón Artigas and Raúl de la Rosa.
It also has an extensive repertoire of more than 95 titles including Los gavilanes, Luisa Fernanda, Molinos de viento, La del Soto del Parral, La del manojo de rosas, María la O, Amalia Batista, Cecilia Valdés, La Traviata and El Conde de Luxemburgo.
The concert under the artistic direction of baritone Alfredo Más and the general direction of soprano Liudmila Pérez enjoyed selections from a national and international lyric repertoire, accompanied by the children’s academy Voces de Ángeles, which belongs to the same lyric company, as well as students of the artistic project of the intermediate level of lyric singing belonging to the music conservatory José María Ochoa and graduate students of the University of the Arts of Holguín.
Great Concert, 62nd anniversary of the lyrical theater of Holguin
The Holguin public was delighted with a marvelous show of lyrical singing together with dances where several generations of artists were linked on the stage, from the youngest of the quarry of artists, as the students in formation and the professional group of those who conform this great company.
New students who combined voices with the experienced lyric singer and director of the group Liudmila Perez, in the grand finale with the voices of teachers and lyric singers who took the stage to give us a magnificent work of art with their presence, which have made history with this company throughout its 62 years of creation.
A night of celebration in a collective birthday where its members enjoyed the performance together with the Holguin public in a full theater, as usual in the functions of the lyric theater of our city. The performance was also dedicated to the memory of the outstanding actor and theater director René Bruzón known as Tito, who was in charge of the performing arts section at Uneac.
