Holguin opens “Vocalis”, first festival of choirs                     

The first edition of the festival of choirs “Vocalis” was inaugurated in the city of Holguin with a broad program that will includes concerts and talks; a space to run until next November 15.

The Provincial Center of Fine Arts hosted the project of small artists “Voices of Angels”, under the direction of Milagros Monier, who delighted the audience this Wednesday with the selective choir with students from the school of arts Raúl Gómez García, which interpreted well-known songs, such as “El bodeguero”, in a version by Maestro Conrado Monier.

Milagros Monier emphasized that the event will be a chance to meet and exchange on the technical and musical status of the performers, at the time she stressed one of the greatest achievements of the event is the presence of the choir students in several stages, in addition to sharing the arrangements in every corner of this city.

During the day, the two-person exhibition “Kemchs & Lira” was also open to the public, which brings together pieces by artists Arturo Kemchs, from Mexico, and Arturo Venezuelan creator Iván Lira, as part of the work done by them for the First Biennial of Political Humor held last June in Havana.

In addition, the program of activities includes a theoretical event at the Professional School of Music on Conrado Monier, as well as the concert Cantares, with the participation of the choir Orfeón Holguín, Bella Voce and Golden Voices; and the closing presentation that will take place at the Alex Urquiola Provincial Library.

Vocalis Festival, organized by the Empresa Comercializadora de la Música y los Espectáculos Faustino Oramas Osorio” and the Unidad de Aseguramiento y Apoyo a la Cultura in Holguin, is an appointment with the sonorous identity, where works of the universal and Cuban repertoire converge in versions for choirs.
