The artistic brigade “Manos que crean por Guantánamo” left Holguín for Maisí this Monday to collaborate with the recovery of Cuba’s easternmost province, and taking with them a donation of books and clothes together with the proposal of cultural expressions for the public of that territory recently affected by Hurricane Oscar.

The group, composed of artists, art instructors and intellectuals, under the guidance of Yakelin Tapia, director of Culture, was given a farewell by Joel Queipo Ruiz, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and first secretary of the PCC in the province, and Manuel Hernández Aguilera, governor of Holguín.
Yakelin Tapia expressed her gratitude to the artists that voluntarily stepped forward to become the first brigade of its kind to enter Maisí, where they will remain for seven days.
In such difficult times as the ones the eastern part of the country is going through, humanism and solidarity are imposed in the way the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro taught us, said Tapia moments before the departure of the artistic brigade from Holguin.
Queipo Ruiz expressed that this is one of the most important collaborations extended to the eastern province, defining its members as ambassadors of art.
The first ones to arrive into Guantanamo with solidarity aid were Holguin workers of sectors such as construction, electricity and hydraulic resources, and you are the spiritual support, and the greatest recognition that you will receive will be the people’s gratitude, said the Party leader.
