The second edition of the Meeting of Paper Artists, organized by Cuadernos Papiro Publishing House, is being held in Holguin with the aim of promoting the production of manufactured paper and the creation of art books, a format in which the publishing house specializes.

The event, which will be held until October 30 as part of the activities of the Ibero-American Culture Festival, offers a program of activities, workshops and interactive conferences for students, artists and fans of these elaboration and printing techniques.

Manuel Arias Silveria, director of the publishing house, explained to ACN that the project was born from the link between the Provincial Center of Fine Arts and Cuadernos Papiro to not only debate on the subject, but also include attendees in the creative process.

This edition counts on national and foreign guests, among them pedagogue María Elena Hurtado, Carina Pino Santo and Tatiana Zúñiga, said Arias Silveria.

The final goal of the event is the creation and inauguration of a group mural at the Provincial Center of Fine Arts, inspired by the cycle of germination, development and death of a papyrus plant, thus closing with a visual testimony of the creative process of the meeting.

The Publishing House, Manufactured Paper Workshop and Printing Museum “Cuadernos Papiro” has the merit of being the cradle of a movement of creators in Holguin, with the delivery of titles of transcendental national and foreign authors, whose copies have been recognized in international fairs in Mexico, Panama and Spain.
