Creators, artisans and participants of the 22nd edition of the Iberoarte International Crafts Fair in Holguin made a donation to the affected by hurricane Oscar in the province of Guantanamo.
Miguel Alarcon Araujo, head of the logistics group of the Holguin branch of the Cuban Fund for Cultural Goods (FCBC), told the CNA that as a result of the meteorological event that affected that region in the eastern part of the country, they immediately summoned all the workers of the institution and artists attending the event.
He confirmed that among the donations were clothes and shoes for men and women, sheets, work clothes, household items and other basic necessities, and also thanked the support of foreign exhibitors from countries such as Argentina, Peru and Mexico.
Maribel Rodríguez Ricardo, creator of the Jabones Ana&Mary brand and participant in Iberoarte 2024, said the initiative is evidence of the solidarity and spirit of cooperation that characterizes the Cuban people. She also expressed her support to the organizers of the event for allowing her to contribute some aid to the victims of that weather event.
The Cuban Fund for Cultural Goods promotes collaborations and one of its main objectives is to improve the quality of life of people in vulnerable situations by working in homes for children without family support and homes for the elderly.
